We are a small but active group. We meet the 2nd Tuesday every month except June and October; either a luncheon or a dinner meeting. Locations vary.

Margarita Simón, MS, FNP-BC, CWCN, DAPWCA owner of Simon Wound Consulting, PLLC has obtained autonomous Nurse Practitioner license in her state of Virginia. Nurse Practitioners in Virginia worked tirelessly to obtain autonomous practice. This was approved and signed January 2019. Our next challenge is obtaining reimbursement from 3rd party payers. Removing barriers to practice ensures that we can provide care in our communities.
Ferne Elsass, our current affiliate president, won the award for best overall presentation at the 7th Annual Meeting of the International Society of Pediatric Wound Care, November 2019. Click to see the poster. Ferne also re-certified for wounds and ostomy and as a pediatric nurse.
Rhonda Johnson, MSN, FNP-C, CWON, CFCN graduated as a family nurse practitioner from Frontier nursing University in Kentucky.She has joined Mid-Atlantic long-term care as an advanced practice nurse consultant for wounds ostomies and foot care for long-term care, skilled care, assisted living, and home visits.
Kathy Merkh has agreed to be the Course Coordinator for the OCA program that our HR affiliate plans to grow in the area.
Karen Twiddy has passed her certification and is now CWON!
Hampton Roads supported UOAA on World Ostomy Day by completing a virtual 5K. With the help of family, friends and the HR WOCN, Ferne Elsass raised $360 for the UOAA.
